Schermafdruk 2017 03 29 10.04.24In partnership with the Municipality of The Hague, 6 Degrees Den Haag will combine debate, exchange, and artistic expression to address the central challenge of our time - how to build more inclusive societies. With more than half of its 500,000 residents coming from outside of the Netherlands, The Hague now consists of a population of 170 different nationalities. This richness of diversity is exactly the right backdrop for the theme: 'The Rise of the Citizen'. This event will be held in a time of uncertainty. More and more democratic countries are taking increasingly protectionist measures to keep people out, and money in. How do we navigate diverging concepts of nationhood? What is our role as advocates for diversity and inclusion? Two sessions, ‘Inclusion in the Shock Age’ and ‘Prosperity and Citizenship’, will explore, debate, and answer these questions.

Guest speakers at the forum include the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, 26th Governor General of Canada, and Co-Chair, Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC), and Ralston Saul, award-winning essayist and novelist, and Co-Chair, Institute for Canadian Citizenship.

‘6 Degrees Den Haag’ takes place from 9.00 to 17.00 hrs. on Monday, 3 April in the Peace Palace in The Hague.Participation is free of charge but you need to register in advance. For more information go to www.6degreesdenhaag.com.
